listen
listening
the most empowering aspect of what I practice in communication is listening.
the thing about listening is, it’s a slippery slope. even seasoned professionals [cough cough] will admit at times that our minds can wander off, running through internal to-do lists.
to actively engage in listening, with a genuine awareness of what the speaker is sharing, we first need to invite our focus to be present.
take some deep cleansing breaths, close your eyes and connect with your heart core. these simple acts truly make a difference as you enter the role of the listener.
by deepening our presence of the present, we are rooted in the moment, and here, in this held space, is where all the goodness comes from.
this is when we arrive. this is when we notice all the non-verbal cues. this is how we actively participate in a conversation. this is how we willingly begin to listen.
